The Monroe Times: Which Candidate Are You Going to Believe?

The following is an article I had published in the “Letters to the Editor” column in the September 20, 2014 issue of The Monroe Times titled “Which Candidate Are You Going to Believe?” and I quote:

Election time is coming up on Nov. 4 and you must vote if you want to help decide who youput in office. If you don’t vote, you have no right to complain. There is a difference between the candidates from the two parties. Each party, Democrats and Republicans, could do a better job if there wasn’t so much money given to do what each party believes is the direction they should go.

Republicans seem to get a lot of their money from out of state, particularly the Koch Brothers and the Democrats seem to get less from wealthy people and more from small contributors on a local level.

Gov. Walker’s budget came up with a $1.8 billion shortfall. He has an ad that shows him crawling out of a hole which isn’t believable because of the growing Wisconsin debt and the condition of the roads we’re driving on. Walker claims he’s going to lower the income tax and the property tax and with our growing debt, I don’t see how that’s possible. If a family gets behind in their debt, they have to go out and work harder to get the bills paid.

So, you ask yourself – which party is more believable? Take time to talk to the candidates when they come around and find out who is going to do a good job for you, the middle class who has been losing jobs and income over the years, while the wealthiest billionaires, according to Forbes magazine, are making more billions every year. They rate them in their Forbes 400 issue of who is making the most and their income is really growing. Getting closer to $100 billion a year.

It’s wonderful we can live in a country that has billionaires but I do question the fast growth rate of their numbers while the middle class is falling behind. We’re going to have to have a graduated income tax with brackets that, as you work your way up the income ladder, you pay more taxes. So, as everybody works up that ladder, you should expect to be paying more and proud to do so because common sense should tell you that all of us are in this together.

If you’re satisfied that your candidate is working on your behalf, buy yard signs and then get out and vote and hold the politicians accountable after the election.

(IF THE VOTER IS LOOKING FOR ANSWERS, HE’S GOING TO HAVE TO ASK THE TWO POLITICAL PARTIES THE VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION–ARE YOU WORKING FOR BILLIONAIRES AND BIG CORPORATIONS?  OR ARE YOU WORKING FOR THE 99 PERCENT THAT CAN ESTABLISH A LIVING STANDARD SUFFICIENT ENOUGH THAT THEY CAN RETIRE WITHOUT HAVING THEIR SOCIAL SECURITY AND SAVINGS IN THE BANK STOLEN BY BIG ORGANIZATIONS LIKE THE CFR (COUNCIL ON FOREIGN RELATIONS) WHO ARE HEADING TOWARD A WORLD GOVERNMENT?  THE PROBLEM IS THAT IT’S NOT DEMOCRATICALLY RUN.  IT’S RUN FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE BILLIONAIRES LIKE KARL ROVE OF AMERICAN CROSSROADS, THE KOCH BROTHERS AND  SHELDON ADELSON.  WHILE THEY ARE DETERMINED TO LOWER OUR STANDARD OF LIVING, THEY ARE ALSO WELL ON THEIR WAY INTO TAKING OVER OUR BANKING SYSTEM THROUGH THE FEDERAL RESERVE AND THE FACT THAT THEY DON’T WANT ANY REGULATIONS ON FREE ENTERPRISE.  IT’S VIRTUALLY GREED TURNED LOOSE.

About tim074

I'm a retired dairy farmer that was a member of the National Farmer's Organization (NFO). Before going farming, I spent 4 years in the United States Air Force where I saved up enough money to get my down payment to go farming. I also enjoy writing and reading biographies and I write about myself as well as articles and excerpts I find interesting. I'm specifically interested in finances, particularly in the banking industry because if it wasn't for help from my local Community Bank, I never could have started farming which I was successful at. So, I'm real interested in the Small Business Administration and I know they are the ones creating jobs. I have been a member of Common Cause and am now a member of Public Citizen as well as AARP. I have, in the past, written over 150 articles on the Obama Blog (my.barackobama.com) and I'd like to tie these two sites together. I'm also on Twitter, MySpace and Facebook and find these outlets terrifically interesting particularly what many of these people did concerning the uprising in the Arab world. I believe this is a smaller world than we think it is and my goal is to try to bring people together to live in peace because management needs labor like labor needs management. Up to now, that hasn't been so easy to find.
