The Monroe Times: Choose Dems over Republicans

The following is an article my wife had published in our local paper, The Monroe Times, in their “Letters to the Editor” column on October 29, 2014 titled “Choose Dems over Republicans” and I quote:

“10/28/2014 9:06:00 PM
“Letter to the editor: Choose Dems over Republicans
From Linda Isely

Monroe

To the editor:

I know Pat Bomhack and Dick Cates, who are both Democrats and support public schools and are running against Republicans Howard Marklein and Mayor Todd Novak of Dodgeville who support private voucher schools.

After reading the article “Majority of Voucher Students Come From Private Schools” written by Scott Bauer in the Oct. 24 issues of The Monroe Times, Democratic candidate for governor Mary Burke also supports public schools.

We don’t need two school systems, particularly since private schools don’t take all students, other than siphoning off the money from the public schools for private schools that don’t do any better job educating the students.

Another Democratic view I favor is equal pay for equal work for women which is something that personally affected me because I didn’t work off the farm when we were farming. I get less than one-half of my husband’s Social Security base just because I chose to stay home and help my husband on the farm.

That’s why my views still hold firm on why all Democrats running for office: Mary Burke for governor, John Lehman for Lt. governor, Mark Pocan for House of Representatives, Susan Happ for attorney general, Pat Bomhack for State Senate and Dick Cates for State Assembly, are better choices than the Republicans on Nov. 4.”

(DEMOCRATS STAND UP FOR THE 99 PERCENT ON THE BREAD AND BUTTER ISSUES.  SO MAKE SURE YOU GET OUT AND VOTE ON NOVEMBER 4, 2014.  DON’T LET THE RIGHT-WING REPUBLICANS STEAL YOUR DEMOCRACY.

About tim074

I'm a retired dairy farmer that was a member of the National Farmer's Organization (NFO). Before going farming, I spent 4 years in the United States Air Force where I saved up enough money to get my down payment to go farming. I also enjoy writing and reading biographies and I write about myself as well as articles and excerpts I find interesting. I'm specifically interested in finances, particularly in the banking industry because if it wasn't for help from my local Community Bank, I never could have started farming which I was successful at. So, I'm real interested in the Small Business Administration and I know they are the ones creating jobs. I have been a member of Common Cause and am now a member of Public Citizen as well as AARP. I have, in the past, written over 150 articles on the Obama Blog (my.barackobama.com) and I'd like to tie these two sites together. I'm also on Twitter, MySpace and Facebook and find these outlets terrifically interesting particularly what many of these people did concerning the uprising in the Arab world. I believe this is a smaller world than we think it is and my goal is to try to bring people together to live in peace because management needs labor like labor needs management. Up to now, that hasn't been so easy to find.
