The Monroe Times: Letter to the Editor: C-Span Brings the Government to People

The following is an article I had published in my local paper, The Monroe Times, on May 2, 2017 in their “Letters to the Editor” column titled “C-Span  Brings Government to People” and I quote:

“Letter to the editor: C-Span brings the government to people”

To the editor:

When you want to find out what’s going on at City Hall, you have to read the Classified section in the paper. It’s always about a month late but what goes on is there. I attended a Council meeting and suggested that they televise the Council meetings like Janesville does and then we could watch the Council meetings and some of the committee meetings right at home. I told them as long as we’re paying the bills, we might as well know what’s going on.

TDS was at the Home Expo and they had a special package of cable TV and landline phone, which I took advantage of. After that, I told a Council member that I’m ready to watch the Council meetings when they get them on, as well as C-Span that televises what goes on down in Washington, D.C., as well as worldwide issues.

C-Span televised a get-together down in Washington on tax day, April 15, concerning why President Donald Trump doesn’t release his federal income tax returns. There were 25,000 in Washington protesting and marching, as well as other groups around the country. Trump said no one really cares if he shows them or not.

Well, 53 percent of voters do care. Evidently, he has something to cover up. Probably his Russian connection. Since he’s borrowed money from many countries around the world to run his many investments around the world, we don’t know if they’re profitable or not. Hopefully, these facts come out before he runs for his second term in office but it’s doubtful because he said he still won’t show them.

When C-Span covered the two-hour meeting on television, which consisted of many people giving speeches as well as three Democratic legislators – Sen. Ron Wyden, Rep. Maxine Waters, and Rep. Jamie Raskin – talking about why everyone should pay their income tax because it means you have a job and you’re making money. The beautiful part of C-Span is you can go to their website and get replays.

C-Span reported Canada made Malala Yousfazai an honorary citizen and the talk she gave afterwards. It was the sixth time that Canada honored a foreigner. Her speech consisted of her trips around the world to promote peace.”

(THE TYPES OF PROGRAMS ONE VIEWS ON TELEVISION FORMS ONE’S MENTAL ATTITUDE AND IT WILL LEAD YOU TO A FORM OF SUCCESS, MENTALLY AND FINANCIALLY.  ONE OF THE BEST NETWORKS OUT THERE TO DO THIS IS C-SPAN BECAUSE THEY ARE CONSTANTLY TELEVISING CONGRESSIONAL DEBATES IN WASHINGTON, D.C., AS WELL AS LISTENING TO THE COMMITTEE MEETINGS, ALSO TALKING TO INDIVIDUALS AND DOING ALL THESE SUBJECTS HERE AND AROUND THE WOLD, MAKING COMPARISONS TO CONSTANTLY IMPROVE EVERYBODY’S STANDARD OF LIVING TO THE POINT OF CLIMATE CHANGE, THE QUALITY OF THE FOOD WE EAT AND THE AIR WE BREATHE.  ON TOP OF THAT, C-SPAN EVEN TAKES PHONE CALLS.  SO, NOW PUT ALL THESE GREAT IDEAS OUT ON SOCIAL NETWORKS AND THINGS WILL GET BETTER.

About tim074

I'm a retired dairy farmer that was a member of the National Farmer's Organization (NFO). Before going farming, I spent 4 years in the United States Air Force where I saved up enough money to get my down payment to go farming. I also enjoy writing and reading biographies and I write about myself as well as articles and excerpts I find interesting. I'm specifically interested in finances, particularly in the banking industry because if it wasn't for help from my local Community Bank, I never could have started farming which I was successful at. So, I'm real interested in the Small Business Administration and I know they are the ones creating jobs. I have been a member of Common Cause and am now a member of Public Citizen as well as AARP. I have, in the past, written over 150 articles on the Obama Blog (my.barackobama.com) and I'd like to tie these two sites together. I'm also on Twitter, MySpace and Facebook and find these outlets terrifically interesting particularly what many of these people did concerning the uprising in the Arab world. I believe this is a smaller world than we think it is and my goal is to try to bring people together to live in peace because management needs labor like labor needs management. Up to now, that hasn't been so easy to find.
